دعيني أنم لحظة يا هـموم
فقد أوشك الفجر أن يطلُعا
وكاد الصباح يشـق الدجى
ولم يأذن القلب أن أهـجـعا
دعـيني دعـيني أنم غـفـوة
عسى أجد الحـلـم المـمـتعا
دعـيني أطَلَّ عـليَّ الصـباح
وما زلت في أرقـي موجعا
وما زال يتعـبني مضجـعي
ويضني تقـلـبي المـضـجـعا
لك الله، يا ليـلـة الذكـريات
ولـي مـا أمــر ومــا أفـزعـا

Owoes and griefs, do let me sleep a while
Dawn is near to emerge from night so deep
So soon the day will break with a bright smile
Though still my heart forbids me quiet sleep
Let me, let me by slumber o’ertaken
Perhaps a sweet dream I yet may find nigh
Let me, for morn shall soon be awoken
Though still wakeful, in aches and pains I lie
Still my bed burdens me with all worries
As my restless tossing wears me all night
God be with you, O night of memories
While I am left to face all bitter fright
