جرح الزيتون
في أول الضوء،
كان ثمَّة زيتونة
تمدّ على غارسها الظلال.جذعها يؤمُّ طريق البيت،
والبيت يفتح شرفته للبحر،
ثم طوى البحر زرقته،
وترك الطين وحده
يعرف من مر تحتها.لا سقف الآن…
مائدة بلا يدين،
رغيف يابس،
سكين لا تقطع سوى الهواء،
مسمارٍ صدئ
عليه معطف يشيخ واقفاً
في جيبه رائحةُ تراب.تحت التراب،
جذور تدفع بيتاً آخر إلى الأعلى،
وفوقه قماش مشدود إلى الريح،
فيه ثقب صغير
يتسلل منه شعاع
ثم يختفي.منذ ذلك الصباح،
الزيتونة المجروحة بالملح
تمسك بالأرض أكثر،
حتى صار ظلها
هو الدار.
The Olive Tree’s Wound
At light’s first break,
there stood an olive tree,
spreading its shade over
the one who planted it.
Its trunk reached the path home
while the home opened
its glass balcony to the sea.
Then the sea folded up its azure
leaving only the mud
to know who had passed beneath it.
No roof now…
A table with no hands,
a loaf gone stale,
a knife cutting nothing
but the air,
a rusted nail
with a coat aging as it hangs;
in its pocket, the scent of dust.
Beneath the earth,
roots are pushing another home upward.
Above it, canvas stretched tight
against the wind,
with a small hole
through which a ray of light
steals in,
then vanishes.
Since that morning,
the salt-wounded olive tree
has held fast to the earth
with an even deeper grip,
until its shadow
became home.
