White Butterfly Hairpin ✍ Im Sol Nae

In that house,
my mother lived in white slippers.
Last year,
I let her go.
Now a white butterfly hairpin
has come to rest upon my hair,
like a white butterfly alighting there.
From this day on, I shall carry my mother upon my head.
The devotion I could not fully give—
even when I bury my face deep within my two hands,
her fragrance still fills the whole earth.
