To Forget You – Mohammad Kutubuddin

To forget you—
I have purchased countless nights,
So that the night and I, in the same courtyard,
May pass the stored-up evenings
Of this shattered life in intimate conversations.
To forget you—
I have tamed the waves of the sea,
So they may count the hours of my loneliness,
And in delirious emotion, keep mourning
Along the shores of my solitude.
To forget you—
I have painted many afternoons,
So that absentmindedly the days may pass,
Counting stars unseen
Beyond your notice.
To forget you—
I have kept the mountain waterfalls in trust,
To go into exile
In the eternal bathing
Of this body left unsheltered for a hundred years.
To forget you—
I have locked the display of my handset,
So that your endless dangling images
May no longer send
Their auspicious signals through the eyes.
