Who Says Men Don’t Cry by Rakib Farayezi

Who says,
Men don’t cry!
Men cry too!
In the burning of the heart,
On the sandy shores of emptiness,
Out of the sight of the world’s eyes,
On a black-and-white canvas!
When love gets lost
In the heavy downpour of cloud-covered rain!
Men weep, adrift
In the salty water of both eyes,
Within the cage of the chest, in the scratches of pain,
Weaving the illusion of sorrow, men cry
Silently, even then!
Who says,
Men don’t cry!
When the marrow and bones of happiness are whipped by the lash of poverty,
In the folds of a crushed, broken, and bending back,
On the soil of the chest.
Even then men cry
In silent tears!
Forgetting the path left behind,
Through so many guises of pain,
Uttering the name of the heart
That once lived within the home of the heart,
Men cry, deceived by
The false love of women!
Who says,
Men don’t cry!
Men cry in silence!
Igniting the illusions of the earth,
Amidst the hesitations and dilemmas of women,
Forgetting all deceptions,
In solitude, alone, in a lonely lifestyle,
Men cry, men cry.
Who says,
Men don’t cry?
Men cry too,
In the outspoken protest
Against unvoiced injustice and wrongdoing,
Men cry!
Who says,
Men don’t cry!
Men cry too…
