Where the Heart Bows, Riches Bow Too:by Dr. Haroon Rashid

Portrait of a man in a dark suit with a blue shirt, standing in front of a partially visible background with the United Nations logo and the words 'Education for Life' and 'Ideas for ACTION'.

Within every soul

there is a hidden courtyard,

a quiet garden,

a sacred space where wealth may not enter

until it has washed itself in humility,

sincerity, and intention.

Gold has no glow

before the eyes of the Divine.

Only the light of pure intention shines.

Only hearts aligned with truth

can carry the weight of prosperity.

The sages whisper

“What you claim as yours

soon claims you,

until it is returned

to the source of all.”

We stumble.

We falter.

We wonder if honesty, integrity, virtue

can survive

in a world intoxicated

by clever lies, shortcuts, greed.

Yet I have witnessed it

purity that endures

like a river cutting through stone

patient, steady, unstoppable.

I watch the caravan of the world pass

Kings on silken sheets

hearts lighter than dust

their generosity feeding cities

their gold silent, unused

like shadows

Ordinary souls of quiet strength

who give without expectation

pay a child’s tuition anonymously

refuse bribes when all bend

their wealth measured in light, mercy, influence

not coins

The heart is like glass

clouded by falsehood

brightened by truth

tempered by patience, mindfulness, reflection

The world reveals two kinds of wealth

True wealth

soft as morning sun trembling on a river

golden and honest

held by hands untainted by deceit

measured in generosity, impact, peace

False wealth

dazzling, loud

reeking of smoke and theft

coins glittering like stars

born of greed, exploitation, shadowed nights

All lands, all faiths, all times speak this truth

earn in a way that preserves the soul

uplifts others

honors creation

Take only what you carry with dignity

Honor the land, your work, your neighbor

Give thanks to earth, ancestors, the unseen

Let go of greed, envy, attachment

Peace blooms where desire ends

The hand that steals

writes suffering into destiny

Dharma guides even the tempted

Kirat Karo, let your work be sacred

Honesty is a shield

Integrity never lost

Even a single honest coin

outweighs mountains of unrighteous gold

Halal is light

Haram is smoke

Small acts of truth illuminate the soul

Different prayers, different words

different lands and times

all steeped in the fragrance of truth

all pointing to the same eternal flame

generosity, patience, honesty, courage, mercy

the real currencies of life

Mindfulness

the mind is a garden

thought is the seed

Guard it

Water it with awareness

Silence, reflection, gratitude

polish the soul

strengthen the heart against deceit

Interconnectedness

every act ripples

through the web of existence

What you sow

returns, seen or unseen

Impermanence

coins crumble, kingdoms fade

but mercy outlives centuries

True wealth is light

and love left behind

Nature teaches

the river teaches patience

the tree teaches generosity

the wind teaches surrender

the sun reminds that every dawn brings opportunity

Amid every prayer

the eternal whisper murmurs

All titles, ranks, crowns

threads in the fabric of humanity

Every faith, path, voice, word, language rises as one

a melody, a song, the heartbeat of the soul

Yet still the world bows

to clever lies

People run to shortcuts

like desert wanderers mistaking heat for water

They called me a holy madman

for saying

“Purity, where does that survive?”

But I have witnessed it

The man who built fortune

brick by brick, nights sleepless, heart trembling

his wealth soft, quiet, luminous

The woman feeding countless families

hands worn, back tired

her riches measured in peace

The farmer rejecting deceit

toiling sun, frost, storm

and heaven turns his harvest to gold

The entrepreneur who refused bribes

though opportunity shimmered like fire

destiny lifted him beyond corruption

The officer who bears law and trust

chooses justice over convenience

his decisions ripple through lives

like rivers shaping valleys

integrity a beacon, fairness a lantern

Passing exams, earning titles, recognition

just the outer measure

Living the essence

honesty, integrity, humility, compassion

the real test

Anyone can gather gold

but only those who let wealth bow to virtue

experience its light

Anyone can memorize knowledge

but only those who live it

transform themselves and the world

These are the truly rich

success that does not burn

prayers answered

destiny written by pure hands

Clean wealth becomes light

Crooked wealth casts shadows

Work with hands

that tremble not when lifted to the sky

Work with a heart

that faces its reflection unafraid

Only one bread rises truly

kneaded with truth, effort, gratitude

Return to yourself

Shed illusions

Stand empty

emptiness is the vessel

the Divine fills with light

The heart that bows can rise

The soul that bends can soar

Start today

earn honestly

speak gently

act kindly

This is wealth that outlasts empires

treasure of dharma, karma, divine favor

richness of spirit, purity of intention

light that flows through generations

In the silence of your heart, know

True richness is not what you hold

but what you allow to flow

love, truth, mercy, generosity

The heart that bows to life

the soul that bends to the Divine

becomes a beacon across worlds

a lantern lighting unseen paths

a treasure no time can diminish

Let life be this

a quiet river of integrity

a garden of compassion

a song rising beyond crowns and kingdoms

an eternal reminder

To bow is to rise

To give is to gain what never fades

To walk in truth is to carry the universe within

And so, I walk

neither chasing crowns

nor fearing loss

polishing my heart into a lantern

offering it to the world

so all who wander may find guidance

all who seek may find light

all who bow may rise.
