The Divine Deer of the East by Wan Yilong-Translated by Lan Xin

When the first light of dawn drifts over Jade Dragon Snow Mountain
Clear sacred conch tones circle slowly through a thousand mountain valleys
Dongba scripture masters crowned with Five Blessings unfurl scrolls to chant scriptures
Young bearers of ritual instruments dance with the wind, robes flowing light and graceful
Red tigers wander leisurely through layered mountain ridges
Plough elephants tread fertile soil, their long trumpets echoing across brooks and gullies
People of all ethnic clans walk hand in hand singing, smiles spreading across the mortal world
No war flames, hunger, cold nor affliction dwell here
No plunder, strife, nor parting between life and death
All living beings abide in perpetual peaceful years, youth enduring bright and vivid
Love flourishes endlessly, never fading with passing seasons
The gilded Nine-Colored Divine Deer leaps up from the Jinsha River
It treads Shangri-La, ascending the snow-capped peak of Meili
Traversing the vast snow plateau, it journeys toward sacred Mount Kailash
Carrying prayers from this pure land, flying to every corner of the mortal realm
Imams fold their palms together, joy brimming in their eyes
Pastors shed warm tears, moved by the kindness of heaven and earth
Monks flutter flowing prayer flags against the wind
Shamans beat drums and sing, dancing with unrestrained delight
All faiths unite as one, mountains and rivers sing in chorus
Mankind shall at last attain — World Peace
