Poems By Dr. Lee Hye -Seon

Dadok Dadok(A Gentle Pat)
A tall dahlia by the garden yard sways in the force of a typhoon.
The slender vine of a morning glory climbs upward, gently wrapping it in an embrace.
And so, today again, the Earth does not collapse because of you.
Turning and revolving, it walks on upright and steadfast.
A Universe in Bloom
Through my kitchen window, I see the man across the way
watering his flowerpots every morning, wearing only a sleeveless shirt.
While doing the dishes, I pause and meet the eyes of those flowers—
Now I understand that they have blossomed through those unseen hands
that water them and nourish them with care.
The air I breathe, a baby’s eyes filled with laughter,
the pebbles I encounter along the road, the green trees deep in the forest,
the glistening scales of salmon shimmering in the flowing river,
the wings of the great swans traveling 3,400 kilometers
to and from the Kamchatka Peninsula in Siberia—
all have been touched by an unseen hand.
And so, once again today, the universe blooms.
