Three Poems By ‪Mahafuzur Rahman‬-Bangladesh

In the cover of night, I have written today a silent document of the infinite cosmos.
The fragrance of incense blends with my breath; time bows low in stillness.
The body is a worn-out husk, while a thirsty bird spreads its wings within.
Memories fall like stars upon the boundless courtyard of meditation.
The glass of ego shatters to pieces, leaving behind only a pure emptiness.
In the swing of light and shadow, all coverings of existence slip away.
In every current of blood, an ancient, distant lute seems to play.
Deep within the darkness today lies a miraculous thirst to touch the Creator.
Leaving behind the skeletons of words, sentences vanish into vapor.
Opening the doors of the soul, I see—an eternal polestar burning inside.
Crossing the borders of illusion and attachment, I am today a limitless entity.
This solitude of the midnight hour is my ultimate destination.
I am no longer anywhere, remaining only in the fathomless abyss of perception.

………

There is no one on the other side of the wall,
Only a prolonged, motionless emptiness.
Clinging to the body of the stone is—
A colorless shadow I left behind.
Am I merely the frozen solitude of time?
In the rough mirror of memory where I have no reflection—
Or no familiar face.
Across this boundary, both near and far—
Is the exiled departure of my entire existence.
I am not here, yet I am dissolved
Into an incorporeal regret trapped within the crevices of bricks.
I finished before I could arrive—
Like a name lost midway on a long journey.
I am my own unseen, unwritten address;
Where, upon arriving, I see—
I am not even there myself,
Only an unbroken silence remains.

…….

The cries of pain bloom into a hostile melody,
The watery white stone of a wounded longitude,
The wailing cry of the soul in a pale, secret burning;
Blends into the canals of heavenly waters,
Against the rushing current floats a stony life,
A dark earth rises upon joined palms.
Yet life, in virgin arts I have embraced—
A strange pyramid of mystery.
The handsome tears broke not in the stormy tide,
The time-bridge of my watery eyes;
Homer, Milton, Shakespeare arranged on the table,
A stony flower awakens in the fresh dawn-light;
The bubbles of tears vanish into the morning sun-time,
The stone of pain blossoms into a colorful earth—
Tears or stone, in the bond of the soul—
We are twin brothers of an ill-fated, dead dream.
( The Duality of Pain and Creation: Through deep suffering, tears, and a stony existence, life embraces its mysterious and virgin form.
The Touch of Literature and Light: Illuminated by classic literature like Homer, Milton, and Shakespeare, the darkness of tears gives way to stony flowers and a colorful earth.
The Bond of Soul and Incompleteness: Tears and stone form a bond of the soul, uniting us as twin brothers of ill-fated, dead dreams.)
