From San Giovanni in Marignano to Switzerland: Emma Renzi Honoured with the Young Talents Award
On 26 September, eighteen-year-old poet and writer Emma Renzi, who writes under the artistic name Faiyaz, will receive the Young Talents Award in Switzerland, an international recognition celebrating emerging young talent.
Born in Ancona and raised in San Giovanni in Marignano, Emma is also an actress and performer. Her studies in Venice, focused on Multiculturalism and Cultural Mediation, have strongly influenced a literary voice centred on dialogue between identities, cultures and generations.
Her poetry has already gained international exposure through publications, readings, mentions and cultural initiatives in Iraq, Greece, the United States, the United Kingdom and Germany.
A significant figure in her artistic journey has been Eva L. Petropoulou Lianou, Greek poet, writer and journalist known for her commitment to promoting literature internationally. Believing in Emma’s voice from an early stage, Petropoulou Lianou helped introduce her work to audiences beyond Italy, becoming an important point of reference in her emerging international path.
In the United States, American spoken-word performer Larry Hollman, also known for his interpretations of Shakespearean poetry, selected Emma’s poem “Memory” for an English-language reading.
Emma is also contributing to the international anthology project “Immersive Voices”, connected with India and bringing together literary voices from different cultural backgrounds.
Her multicultural perspective is also central to “Dio contro Dio” (“God Against God”), a narrative project written together with Milena Renzi and developed around the dossier concerning the Bali bombing. Through two distinct narratives, the work explores different cultures, educational backgrounds, identities and religious worlds, raising a fundamental question: to what extent do the place where we are born, our families and the society around us shape the people we become?
On 20 October, Emma will also take part in the event “The Violence That Leaves No Bruises” at the International Centre of Brera in Milan, where she will contribute her poetry and the perspective of a younger generation.
The Young Talents Award marks another important step in the journey of a young writer from San Giovanni in Marignano whose voice is beginning to cross national borders while remaining firmly connected to her roots.
