In My Youth By Salim Elias Madalo

in my my youth friend Hamid and I agreed to hunt beautiful partridges On a cold winter morning I heard Hamid calling me from near our front door I grabbed my traps and we went to the mountain in a valley not far from home, we set our traps and returned. The next morning we went back to check them to see if we had caught any When we arrived we found four beautiful partridges in the traps when I returned Back home, my father asked how many partridges did you catch? I replied four. And where are they? I answered My friend Hamid is keeping them until we catch a few more and then we will split them. My father smiled a strange smile and asked Did you really believe what your friend told you? I answered Yes. In subsequent hunting trips, we managed to catch two partridges. He took them all clean and prepare them for eating. A few days later I met Hamid to ask for my share three partridges. Without a hint of embarrassment he told me My mother cooked them for herself for my father and for him a delicious dinner. I returned home sad thinking to myself You were right Father you were right of everything you told me about keeping our partridges
